Nifty - The group of best companies listed on the National Stock Exchange
Sensex - The group of best companies listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange
NSE - National Stock Exchange . Is bigger and has more volume
BSE - Bombay Stock Exchange . Is older and has some scrips which are exclusive to it.
From time to time prices on BSE and NSE for the same stock will be different. Buy whichever is cheaper as we are in it for investing and liquidity doesn't matter . For traders I would suggest to stick with NSE.
Order Type
Market Order - Buying a share at the current market price with no questions asked.
Limit Order - Try to buy at a lower price or sell at a higher price . Similar to negotiating for prices.
The other types of orders are SL Limit Order & SL Market Order
Type Of Trading
Delivery - You are going to receive the shares / securities / stocks under your name . Upon booking profit you will be paying capital gains tax for the same ( Short / Long based on tenure of holding)
Intraday - You are speculating the stock might go up / down , akin to gambling . Will be classified as other income / speculative income and will be taxed with your regular income
Complexity
Simple - Trade is placed and executed during regular market hours .
AMO - Trade is placed outside market hours and executed during regular market hours.
Validity
Day - Your offer is only valid for the day
IOC is not advisable as a sudden turbulence in the market due to speculation or freak trades will result in huge loss
Dividend
A dividend is the distribution of profits to the eligible shareholders (based on record date).Dividend payments and amounts are determined by a company's board of directors. Dividends are payments made by publicly listed companies as a reward to investors for putting their money into the venture.
